Artist's Comments

This is a big ass salute to every stupid picture title on DA. By stupid I mean that the title says way more than the picture really is.

If I get a lot of comments I might continue with this kind of titles. Be afraid, be very afraid!

Hm, I think I'd like this better if the flower head wasn't blurry. I definitely agree with you on names. I generally try to stick to one word titles.

I think titles like that rock! It makes you feel like you didn't click on the picture in vain! Like it DOES means something! Sometimes there are pictures that I fave just BECAUSE of the titles! Sometimes there's a cool picture and you think, "Hmmm, it's cool, but I could live without faving it," and then I read the title and it fits so perfect I can't NOT fave! So yeah, I would! It's fun that way!

Thank you for feedback! I might upload one of my serious pictures from this session where the flower is clear and the hand is outside of the frame:)

OMGZ! I love the title. A little part of my heart died in vain of the beautiful words.

Ill try to be serious despite the blood in my eyes and my faith shattered all over the wall.

I understand how you can like a picture better because of the title but what I don't understand is that it can change someones perspective that much. Dont get me wrong! A good title is very important, especially on sites like this, but why do people put a small poem over their pictures.

Its like their trying to lead attention away from the picture, or from my point of view: lead the viewer against the picture.

Well, I can't answer for everyone, but for me it puts the emotions of the artist into the picture in question. It only changes my perspective when I can see what the picture means to them. I'm not sure if that makes sense or not, but when I can feel just a tiny bit of who they are from one picture and what they decided to call it I feel wiser or something. ??? And as for the poems, I guess that's their way of making their emotions clear to everyone else, that's them reaching out in a way... telling people, "hey, I was hurt when I drew this," or "I was so happy when I took this picture." Of course I understand what you're saying too! And I've noticed that myself in some cases- you'll see there's this totally commercial or mundane picture with this auspicious title and you can just look at it and see plainly they're trying to make it more than what it is. It differs from artist to artist I guess.

I really think we have the same opinion on this. What you say in the end of your reply is exactly what I'm talking about.
